Ethnicity is central to PRIAE's raison d'etre as is ageing. For PRIAE ethnicity is understood as people's sharing of common culture, language, beliefs and faith, geography/location as well as power. Everyone has ethnicity. PRIAE uses the concept to refer to those who come from minority ethnic backgrounds in the UK and across Europe on the basis of colonial background; economic migration; refugee status; indigeneous or national minorities.
